Played the game and love it, but is there any way to have your units change formation by keystroke or menu? If not, this would be a really helpful addition

Yes and in fact here is the entire key stroke sequence:
Key Chart:
Remote Assault can be played completely with the mouse, however using some or all of these key commands can help make giving orders easier. For many of these key commands to work you first must have a unit, squad or group selected.
M Move key. (Note: This key command is not needed if the Quick move order option is active.) Use this key to tell a unit, squad or group to move to a location. To use, hold down the M key and click on the location where you want your units to move.
T - Target key. Use this key to tell a unit or squad to target an area. When used with a group it tells the group to suppress the area. First select the area with a rectangle or line before pressing the T key.
L Form line key. Use this key to tell a squad or group to form a line. First draw a line on the map and then press the L key.
O Smoke line key. Use this key with a group to smoke a line. First draw a line on the map and then press the S key.
A Attack key. Use this key with a group to give an attack order. First select the unit you what your group to attack and then press the A key.
U Unit mode key. Switches the current order mode to unit.
S Squad mode key. Switches the current order mode to squad.
G Group mode key. Switches the current order mode to group.
R Retreat key. Tells a group, squad, or unit to retreat.
P Resupply key. Tells a group, squad or unit to go resupply. To use this key first draw a selection rectangle around a resupplier(s) and then press the P key.
Space or H Hold key. Tells a group, squad or unit to cancel current orders and hold/defend their current position.
Escape Deselect key. Removes selection lines or rectangles, or if none, deselects currently selected units.
Pause - Pauses, and un-pauses the game.
Slash(/) - In multiplayer games it brings up a message box near the bottom of screen that you can type in to send a message to the other player.
Ctrl-(F1-F10) - Sets a view for latter retrieval.
F1-F10 - Restores a previously saved view.
Ctrl -(0-9) - Set a groups selection to one of the number keys.
0-9 - Selects the group that was set to a number key. Press again to center view on group.
Left arrow - Moves map to the left.
Right arrow - Moves map to the right.
Up arrow - Moves map up.
Down arrow - Moves map down.
Insert - Pans view up.
Delete - Pans view down.
Home - Rotates map left.
Pgup - Rotates map right.
End - Zooms in.
Pgdn - Zooms out.
-(Dash) - Activates details window pane.
=(Equals) - Activates Stats window pane.
\(Backslash) - Activates Behavs window pane.
Backspace - Activates Util window pane.
Alt-G - Toggles grid on and off.
Alt-T - Toggles terrain type show on and off.
Alt-R - Toggles trees on and off.
Alt-S - Toggles satellite view on and off.
Alt-H - Toggles HUD on and off.
Alt-C - Toggles Scout mode on and off.
Hold keys. Hold down these keys while clicking with left mouse button on the target to activate the commands.
;(Semi-colon) - In unit mode make unit fire weapon 1.
[(left-brace) - In unit mode make unit fire weapon 2.
](right-brace) - In unit mode make unit fire weapon 3.
C - Forces column formation for moves.
D - Forces wedge formation for moves.
I - Forces line formation for moves.
Ctrl- Speeds up view commands like view up, pan left, etc..
Shift- Holding down the shift key while giving an order chains the order to end of the order queue.
