A few people have reported problems launching Space HoRSE, especially in Windows XP. Here are a few of the causes/solutions people have figured out:

Make sure the demo Version of Space HoRSE is unintalled (all Windows).

Use the Windows 98 compatibility option in the shortcut options (XP only).

Hi Todd.

I've noticed that putting my computer into Windows 98 Compatability mode has often caused Space HoRSE to kick out to the desktop after about 10 rounds. I would highly suggest running the game under Windows 2000 compatability mode, since I have not had a problem with this selection (probably since WinXP's vast similarity to 2000)

Just a thought...

Thanks for pointing that out.

As it turns out, the Windows XP/2000 crashing is due to a bug in Windows accessing the registry. I will be releasing a patch very soon that fixes this and some network sync issues that have come up.

The patch will also include the Network Game Matching program!

Couple other things. One not such a big deal is the "You have won first prize in the homemade bikini content". Should say contest I assume. Also, the timer should not reset in the market whenever you move. I do enjoy just waiting until the computer players jack up the price as far as they can, but it shold continue to time when moving up or down.

Good eye on the typo.

If you want the market timer to act like that, enable "Classic Auction" on the new game screen.

I just got the game yesterday and played 2 full games. Gotta love it! The only issues that I had were the 'increased solar activity' event seemed to Last to long, almost to the point where I thought the application had frozen. Also, at the end of the game, the final video didn't play. I could hear the audio, but the actual video screen was black. I am running WinXP and didn't have any problems with getting kicked out of either game.

The "black video" thing only happens on some video cards, and only on some videos, but it will be fixed in the patch.

I found a few problems playing lan games. With 2 computers (one is running XP, one running Win2k) - sometimes the "end of round Messages" do not match up on both computers. In one case, it said the player lost a $1000. The other computer reported the player won $250.

This is fixed in the patch.
