How much material in DO can we modify / customize? Maps, levels, characters, graphics, skills, spells, etc. etc.?

It seems like you can change quite a lot. Download the demo and take a look at the .TXT files, they are located in the DATA directory and also MODULES\CROWN OF THE MAGIS\TILES and MODULES\CROWN OF THE MAGIS\DATA. These directory are under the main DUNGEON ODYSSEY directory.

There are some comments at the start of each file and the field names have very good labels. The full game will come with manuals that describes each of them.

Looks pretty cool, can't change anything with the demo...

Can you paint maps? or can you only edit text files to make them? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

The graphics are all bitmaps. You could even edit them in Paint if you wanted.

The text files give the 'rules' for map creation. So FWIW you could make a map that is the same all the time.

The maps are created when the game starts and are random. You can paint the tiles that make up the map, but I see no way of designing the maps you are going to get. You might be able to set rules for making the maps in the .TXT files, I'm not sure.

I found you can make your own tiles and Terrian, you can even see it with the demo, Im not sure if it saves or not but check it out its real cool.
Run DungOdy.exe with the following command line parameters:
-mapgen
or
-tilegen
