Escort mission question (very mild spoiler)

Can anybody give me a tip on how to find the ship I am supposed to be escorting (anti-pirate mission early on)?

Target any specks you see on the horizon, and see if their IDs match the ship you want.
If not, move to look behind storms, planets & stars.

At extreme distances, the targets won't have much angular velocity relative to you, so it should be easy to click 'em.

When in doubt, try heading for the star, so you have the minimum distance to travel once you find the ship.
