tactics: question

Any suggestions opn tactics for taking on two or more ships at the same time? Some missions force you to do that. Has anyone been successful at separating them?

I built my ship like a tank with twice the shield and armour up front. I'm used to charging them head on and let them take the two doses of toxin in the face at point blank range! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
