I've got some more suggestion based on the few hours I've spent on the demo. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Since the whole game is based on a single ship, I think it will be a whole lot more interesting if there is more "depth" in the game so people actually gets more attached to their ships. The best thing I can think of are some speech effects. The ship crew is amazingly silent right now and that's not really exciting. Two things that quickly come to mind are when a weapon group is ready to fire the weps guy can shout "Weapon group one ready!" or something like that; the other thing is when the ship takes damage, or get hit by one of those dreaded toxin injectors, some screaming over the intercom will really add to the experience.

You mean something like this, perhaps? (http://www.realmofconfusion.com/underseriousattack1.mp3)
Or how about this? (http://www.realmofconfusion.com/sitrep_lo.wav)

I thought this would have been a good idea the first time I lost my ship to toxic injectors - I didn't realize the crew was continually dying off. It would have been nice if I could hear the crew's choking gasps of agony; I would have headed for repairs immediately!

I agree, even though I've not opened the retail box sitting on my desk right now, I've been playing the demo and some voices would be the icing on the cake, even general chatter would be welcome every now and then. it doesnt have to be total chatter, or every message spoken, but some would add some real flavor to the game.
