Contols seem a bit "wonky" to me. At times in combat, when at fast speeds I try to turn into the enemy ship my ship with "bounce" back in the opposite direction. Example: I turn left at near top speed I'll bounce back to the right, making it difficult to get my weapons to bear on the target ship.

Anyone selse see this? Or am I too heavy handed with the keyboard?

It has to do with how the game handles turning. When you hold down the key on the keyboard to turn long enough, the marker that the ship follows will go past 180 degrees in that direction, and the ship will turn in the opposite direct to get there, as it is now the shortest direction.

IMO, the mouse is much superior for directional control.
Click on where you want to go, and the nav officer gives your ship that exact heading http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Having the mouse up there keeps enemy ships well withing targetting reach, and my left hand deals with the firing of guns (1-4) and engine controls.

What view mode are you using?
I'm not sure what you mean by "bounce" any more...

Using a single click on the enemy ship, you may find that by the time you're finished your turn, the enemy has begun heading off in a different direction than you expected...

If you have the grid on (G key), do you still notice the "bounce"?

I think the mouse "bounce" is being caused by clicking too near the top of the screen. This causes the ship to do a 180 degree turn around.

Is this keyboard bounce thing considered a bug? Will it get fixed in the patch?
I only have the demo but it's a pain when you are in combat.

I don't use the grid, guess I'll try that.

Mouse "bounce" seems to be when I put the cursor way off to one side and/or near top of screen then left click.

Avoid those areas, as they tend to cause 180 degree turns. Try keeping to mouse near your ship when piloting with it.

I can confirm the mouse 'bounce' as well, same conditions. More annoying than game damaging though.
