View Full Version : Bug in Campaign 2?

After destroying the Xiati Starbase in Xiltro in the 2nd campaign, you're supposed to report to the Abbidon Starbase in Lundra for further orders. This quest seems not to update at all, either after destroying the starbase or at Lundra, so I'm simply stuck here? Have tried it 2x from the beginning of the campaign; anyone have an idea what might be wrong? Thx!

It could be that you also have to clean up the Xiati ships in the system. IIRC, the Amonkrie starbase mission in the demo is the same way.

Thanks. I tried this, but it seemed to make no difference - still don't get any notice of completion.

You are not alone! My borther had the same problem. He gave up on starfury, so now i'm trying to get there. Have you tried edditing the campaign file or save games?

Just about to give up myself, too, as there's no point in continuing since I can't complete this quest (which had no time limit - so you can't even fail). I should think the problem is in either the ##.MAP or campaign.DAT file in the appropriate /savegames/slot## folder, but I don't know how to edit (or even open) either file type. Definitely stuck...

This worked fine for me, but I think I found a way to get you past it. (assuming you just aren't forgetting to use the abbidon contact..but if you got this far I doubt it!)

Load the save game with the problem, then type

`TRIGGEREVENT Event Abbidon Operations 6 Start C`

EXACTLY like that, including the ` on each end.
Its a bit of a mouthful, but what this does in enable the next mission manually. You may have the leave out the Event before Abbidon, I'm not sure. Capitilzation doesn't count matter.

Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!

This did work - doesn't get rid of the entry in Mission Status for the hung mission but it does allow me to progress on through the campaign. I assume this was simply a case of wading through the MainEvents.txt file to find the appropriate EventName and starting the mission after it? Had looked at this previously but didn't know the right syntax to use.

Thanks again, Phoenix!

Yup. I'd still like to know what happened to that missions though..and be careful, you can only have 3 active at a time.

A friend is having a strange problem related to this bug. In his case the Abbidon starbase has disappeared from the map, hence the mission (and the one following it, I think) cannot be completed. Is it an actual starbase or one of the planets? If it's a starbase, it's gone on all maps & views. Why??

Things named "Starbase" are actual starbases.

It is possible the base was destroyed in combat... AFAIK, that's the only way it would dissapear.

You mean that other units destroyed the base on their own? If so, that would be a major flaw. The bugs in this mission are game stoppers.

It is conceivable that it occured. Highly unlikely, though.
Perhaps if a couple of ships or fighters rammed the base, or if it was stock and the base's shields weren't regenerating at a decent rate, it could just get worn down.

Thanks for the info. You know, the game's really good so this doesn't affect my overall opinion. I'm sure this will get looked at and patched if need be.

Sheesh it's fun to rip into those battleships with all of your weapons, beams, torpedos, everything, blazing. It's hilarious, very satisfying and pretty too. Why do I say that now? It's ten to five A.M. and I just stopped playing. I think I'd better hit the hay.

Thank god for this thread. I have also hit this situation, although I'm not sure mine is a bug. Previously while still at the 'do 3 jobs...' stage of the campaign, I got so frustrated at not being able to complete said 3 jobs, I went out looking for every Xiati I could find to try and develop a technique to fight them. In doing this I found the Xiati Starbase in Xiltro and practiced on it - until it died http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif and then I did the same to the one next to their Homeworld. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif So I hope that Starbase isn't a target later on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

Thanks again for a solution.

The Xiltro one is a target later on, yes. Hmm..you can, using events, detect if the player gets close to a target starbase before he's given the task to kill it. But I can't see a way to protect that starbase.

OTOH, I can see a way around this. Along with the mission, set another event. This one tests for no enemy ships in the target system. If it tests TRUE, then it marks the kill starbase mission as completed. So the player has to go to a little extra effort, but isn't completely stuck.
