In the past couple of weeks I've enjoyed playing the SF demo that took me three days to download (sucky local 'net availability). I've even done a little working on the data files.

Unfortunately the checksum limitation really puts a chokehold on enjoying the demo... but I was able to tinker with *some* things.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif (for some reason I don't find any way to post those mod files here?) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

If anyone has a workaround for the demo checksum I'd really appreciate it... I enjoy the game, but won't be nearly able to get it for a while. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif (One notable positive point about Malfador games - They almost *NEVER* show up on any warez sources).

(Then again, maybe it just means that the kind of people who are interested in MM's games are intelligent enough to know that they shouldn't be pirating games, and anyone who does pirate games isn't smart enough to figure the games out! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

Unfortunately they do show up. But don't even bother to ask where you can find them.

Yes. the Malfador Games do not appear on pirate sites. Well I did know only one such site but no it's down.

I had to do some "arrangements" to get the game to Finland. It's not easy for a student to get a credit card.

So my friend bought the game and I bought the game from him. Same thing with Se4 gold.

Makinus, there's B5 Starfury mod already?

There is a Battlestar Galactica mod, I don't believe there is a B5 mod released yet.

My mod contains a P&N-ized Version of the first two campaigns. The third campaign will follow once my final exams are done http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

You can download both campaigns from:
http://imagemodserver.mine.nu/starfury
Plus some extras like my Slotmodder and my Storemodder.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well, I can certainly help you out on the BSG front:

The Battlestar Galactica Mod (http://brique2.intelli.com/vhosts/tre/media/BSG/Colonies.zip) (11 MB)-- Requires Starfury 1.08 or better
Adds several new ships, graphics, components, and, of course, a new campaign. This is still in beta, but I think I've got most of the larger issues taken care of.

Landscape Pack (http://brique2.intelli.com/vhosts/tre/media/BSG/Landscapes.zip) (12 MB)-- You shouldn't need this to work, but it couldn't hurt and it makes the game look a great deal slicker. Unzip to either Starfury/Images/Landscapes folder (will change graphics in all campaigns) or to Starfury/Campaigns/BSG 1 - Colonial Crisis/Images/Landscapes for just the mod.

Optional Music Packs-- Not necessary, but add a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Unzip to your /Music directory in Starfury.

Music 1 (http://brique2.intelli.com/vhosts/tre/media/BSG/Music1.zip) (17 MB)
Music 2 (http://brique2.intelli.com/vhosts/tre/media/BSG/Music2.zip) (30 MB)
Music 3 (http://brique2.intelli.com/vhosts/tre/media/BSG/Music3.zip) (20 MB)

I plan to knuckle down over the weekend and crank out a bunch more systems, so look for a patch with an expanded system map (as well as more realistic sound effects) in the very near future.

A quick question.

What does "P&N" stand for?

And while we're at it; what does the slotmodder & storemodder do anyway?

P&N stands for Pirates & Nomads.
Not that there are any more pirates or nomads compared to regular SF, but the ideas in the mod are very similar to my P&N mod for SE4.

The slotmodder allows you to edit the ComponentConfigurationSlots files graphically.
You can click and drag the ship slots around, and then edit the slot properties much easier than directly via the text file.

Stores is a similar idea, just drag and drop components to move them around your spacedock store types.

Blue screen of death.

The server has been rebooted.
