What does 'K' and 'L' do?

Seems to make my engines glow brighter/softer, but does this have any effect on the game?

Those are the brightness keys. If you keep pressing them you'll notice them make -everything- brighter or darker. Use them if the game is too bright or too dark (i.e. you're running into things you can't see..)
