A global newspaper - the "Hiperia Gazette" or "Urgaia Times" or whatever. If there's a war in a remote place I have no intel on, or a plague or another such widescale event, I should get at least a bit of knowledge about it.

I voted other, though I have no idea what that other should be. Probably go with the stock answer of better AI (though better scripting would satisf too).
I really could care less about either of the other two mentioned items, though if you stuck a gun to my head I'd pick diplo, then grab the gun and shoot you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

There is an autohost. There is also a quickhost. Both very useful in blitzes.

Hmmmm...
Are the autohost folders named "Blitzkrieg I", "Blitzkrieg II" etc.

Anyway, i would pick the diplo system, but i would prefer to have both.
I can do without however.

Voted for something other. First two are not that important for me, although well-done diplomatics would enchance the gameplay. I dislike the idea of allowing travel through your lands though, it doesn't feel right. Besides, what would happen if there was a fight?
Global market seems nice though, but what could you exactly sell? Gems and items? Gems might go fine, but how would you choose items?
Något Gick Fell's idea about the newspaper is good, but gossip of some kind would fit Dominions better. Maybe you would have to put commander to do the job. That would increase micromanagement, though, but there are some interesting possibilities as well... Micromanagement increase would be here because you would have to read what has happened, and assign many commanders to do the job, but another use for normal commanders would be quite nice too.

The newspaper would have personal ads, of course. "Cute blood-slave seeks SWM for conversation, maybe more. +3 fear a bonus. No heat auras, please."

The newspaper, while intersting (too much like IGN from MoO 1&2 for my tastes though) could rapidly become too cheesy and detract from the feel of the game. Though making it optional or skipable would alleviate that problem.
I don't see it an addition of major content though, but on the other hand it'd probably be easy enough to add in.

"That was what I had in mind actually, a newspaper [...] a few lines about the big events that happen on the other side of the world."
Let's push that real news bit...
Whenever a battle is one of the, say, Five Greatest in History then show it to everyone. Big battles are where strategy comes into dramatic focus and seeing them would be way more exciting then hearing that "Abysia really took it to Man" third hand. It's also realistic that this kind of news would travel fast.
Greatest could be measured just by the summed Size of the smaller force. The goal is visual impact for the observers after all! A brief time lag could be used to prevent vultures from gating in.

Both of the choices on the poll would be welcome, if done well. However, I might rather see other game mechanics additions/enhancements.
For example, a better way to handle what happens when units have no retreat path, or when lurking units are detected and run away. I'd like to see some of them surviving but hiding out scattered in enemy provinces, some eventually finding their way to a friendly province, some getting caught and surrounded and having to be killed rather than auto-eliminated, etc.
Or, more tactical options such as skirmish fighting tactics, orderly retreat when badly hurt or overpowered, units specified as a reserve to replace the front units when they are worn out (e.g., Roman tactics), etc.
Edit: actually, above all, the more modding features, the better. <g>

As for the newspaper idea, some occasional information about distant provinces would be interesting, but then there should also be false rumors and the ability to plant false rumors. Also, the game already has the ability to send scouts (human, beast, or various magical) to foreign lands to get reliable information. It might be enough if some major events would generate semi-reliable rumors for listeners in adjacent territories. But if someone is lurking under the ocean and not sending out any scouts, they shouldn't get the Old York Times delivered to their hearth.

Oh, I change my vote from Arena FMV. Instead, I want the entire Automation Features thread added http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif In-game MP3 support (with 2 playlists, one for combat, and one for the strategic map) would be a close second. Initially we'd make the playlists of MP3's laying around, but it would be awesome if by patch 1.5 there was a full set of combat themes, one for each race, like in Star Control II. Pre-patch, I'd probably use the Ur-Quan theme for Ryleh, Orz for Atlantis, Yehat for Tien Chi, Syreen for independant Amazons, Illwrath for Machaka, Druuge for Abysia, Supox for Pangea, Utwig for Ulm, Thraddash for Marginon... hmmm, some of them don't fit too well. But that's OK, there are plenty of other games to draw from. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I most confidently voted for Diplomacy System http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif .But if i choose Other/Misc the features i will want are: Inproving Province,Ideas Like;
1)Food Supply Increase.> Delegate,a selected leader in farming in that province to increase supply.
OR
2)Trade system.> Trade gems for Gold/Supplys, a flexible market in Hi & low % in price changes per season, within that single province http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif .
