After hearing of it from C.S.I.P.G.S I bought 5 or 6 copies myself, and recommended (forced) that many friends to buy copies.

What? You bought 5 or 6? You aren't sure that 5 or 6? lol?

Anyways what is the point in that? I mean to buy 5? Huhhhh? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

A lot of votes in the 'other' Category. Any of those care to elaborate?

They are all floating around here somewhere if I really had to count them up.

Huhhhh? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Same as buying just one, to play the game. I have a 5 machine network here which includes a linux game server. And enough people to have a pretty decent PBEM on our own.

One copy I bought because a friend of mine pestered and pestered me to borrow it saying he would buy it when he could. Against my better judgement I did loan it. After a couple weeks of it irritating me I bought a copy and overwrote the one on my machine that he had borrowed then told him to keep that one and pay me back when he could (which he did eventually do).

{joke on}

The Holy Crusade has begun! We should try to convince the whole earth and beyond (I will concentrate on jupiter, these octopodians can play 4 games at once) to buy the game.

There is a huge gathering of heretics (aka the heaten which are not aware of the True Game) in this SE IV forum not far from here. Who amongst us my friends will take his cross and sandals and travels to their land, so they can see the Light? PvK, Pontifex Maximus of SE IV, be our herald http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

{/joke off}

I put some tags, some here are somehow ill-tempered with (bad) humor.

I first heard of dominions here (http://www.classicgaming.com/mom/)
This once was a live MOM fan site. Sadly it's dead and I've little hope of a MOM-II http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

glad I discoverd the dominions gem though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Knew about Dom1 and Dom2 from linuxgames.com and this was the first time I heard about Shrapnel Games.

I found dom1's interface too clunky unfortunately, but it certainly has a great depth, something still missing from quite a few AAA titles.

A lot of people heard about it from me:) Some on the AOW2 forum, some on the Starbase Delta forum, some on the MOO3 forums... I get around:)

I first played Dominions a couple years ago (was it out then?) and I have no idea how I heard about it.

I spread the word all day about the game.. 2 of my friends decided to pre-order it!
They will hopefully register here. More people on the Boards = always better.

+ After the demo is out, we will have more ppl, I am almost sure. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I heard about it on a game forum....just not sure which one....I also first heard about it in Computer Games Magizine....seen the review....but for some reason, at the time, it didn't interest me (i was a former gfx addict)....

I know it took me 3 tries in installing it to finally start to liking it....3 tries, then I found the domx forum, started posting questions there, getting answers....then starting learning how to play this beast...now, my absolute fav game, at least until I get the sequal...

I saw a thread on CSIPGS, played the demo and was so frustrated with it that I posted a very negative review there, and then just kept playing it happily ever after.

And Treebeard - I'll agree that Gonegold will probably drag in some new players. Bill already said he'd toss in a mention for it, and I dug up my old password to go flood the MP forum again... see you there? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Read a few comments on the .strategic newsgroup... so I downloaded the demo, found out it could run under Linux, and said, well, that kind of effort deserves a little bit of my money http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Unfortunately, the DomI interface being what it is, I didn't spend enough time with it to fully enjoy it; I guess I never really climbed the learning curve. With DomII, and a working 'net connection from home now, I expect to play it enough to get into MP games.

I've heard first of Dom1 on Unsenet csipgs, but wasn't hooked then, seemed too obscure and complex, and I not even installed the demo after getting it...
In fact I really started to play & enjoy Dom1 after a discussion on AOW:SM forum where the guys told war stories, this seemed soooo much better than the boring AoW battles I was having that I gave Dom a try...
This was just before Dom 2 was announced at Shrapnel's , 5 weeks ago http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif !

Actually I was just noticing that thread in AOW Heavens forum before I started beta testing Dom 2. It felt kindda weird to see a mention of the game I tried (demo only) several months before and due to RL and high rate of addictiveness of the game had to stop playing it. The thread made me download demo again and shortly after I got invitation from Shrapnel to beta test sequel!
