Does the Academy of war train only the commander who enters, or all of the men under his command, as well?

Yes, in dom1 it was a level-0 (but uncommon) Blood site.
Cheers.

How many turns does it take to train?

Every turn spent on training gives some extra experience. Making bunch of newbies elites will take a long time, but having them get their first star is only a few turns, I think.

I understand there is another site like this called the Ancient Master (this one an Astral 1 site). The Site Reference indicates that this one gives 8 XP per turn. Any idea on the effectiveness of the AoW?

Trains all of them? Man, WHY DIDN'T I EVER TRY THAT???

Not a game-breaker, but still pretty darn cool...

Academy of War gives 4 exp per turn, The Ancient Master gives 8. Academy of War is not unique, and it is still a level 0 Blood site. The Ancient Master is unique.

Take a look at the Magic Site DB (search the forum or grab it from Arryn's site), it has all the info on EVERY SINGLE SITE in the game.
