View Full Version : The "I'd like to play MP" thread

November 13th, 2003, 09:07 PM
For those lucky buggers that are recieving the game soon and wish to jump right into a few games of MP when they recieve the game I felt this thread was appropriate.

This is mainly for those who want to play multi-player to look outside of their group of friends to play. How about we format the Posts as:

Name:
Type of Game: PBEM or TCP/IP
# of Players:
Contact Email:
Favored Race: (?)

Then you could get together those MP games you've been waiting for with those who would like to as well.

Edit: Added Contact Email.

It would be nice to have a seperate mp board so there'd be no need to search for your game's thread and people would know where to look for mp games. Just a request here. And I'd be up for playing a mp game when i get my copy.

I have a few MP questions.

1. Can you assign a time limit to a turn, as you can in Age of Wonders II, for instance?

2. How does the battle replay work in MP? If 1 player watches 1, do all the others have to watch as well?

3. How can anyone enjoy playing PBEM http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'll play anything, but I need to go through 8080, since it is my only open port..

I wonder if this game could use a PBW like system -- it works well with SEIV.

If you are restricted to a single port, that just means you can't be the server except through that port, but it does not affect your abilities as a client. But if you can access email, and the internet, and so forth, I suspect you have more ports than just 8080 open=)

2) You only see your own battles and battles where you have a stealthy unit.

3) It's mainly for the poor ones who never gets any spam. With PBEM games they get at least a couple of mails a week. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

# of Players: Lots

Favored Race: will change on a whim; moderately less crap as Abysia than with most other races

Skill Level: Newbie

Preferred Server Type: Medium to high 'diplomacy', like the Dom1 game transcript on faithful.dk. Would like to see some server provisions for 'pantheon (allied) victory', since it sucks to team up with someone, beat everyone, and then have to fight each other just to end the game instead of shaking hands and calling it quits.
