Not a bad review I think....

The gameplay got rated lower than the graphics? Admittedly the graphics are nice, but even so I wouldn't expect them to get a better rating than gameplay.

Notice the description of the Gameplay rating:
This is a turn-based title. You can take your time considering your moves and once completed, you end your turn and either the computer AI or your opponent does the same. In this way the game can Last for a long, long time.<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Basically, this explains what a turn-based game is to a twitch-monkey. In that context, it's surprising the game got as high a rating as it did.

What we need is a global enchantment such as Banish Twitch Monkeys... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

... hmm, or better - Global Gift of Reason!

You are all very ironic, but in fact the review is fairly good & exact, as well in the score than the text ! An overall 7.8 is quite Ok for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Obviously the "gameplay" and "graphics" scores would need explanation ; I suppose the "low" gameplay is mostly because the game has a slow pace, and the "high" graphics is rather unexpected - I'm not sure I'd give such a rating http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Ratings are pretty hard to make meaningful, anyway, since everyone has different tastes and there are so many ways for a feature to be good or bad to different people.

For the kind of gameplay that Dominions has, it's practically unrivalled.

Whether you like that or not, is another matter.

So it's best to describe what a game does and doesn't offer, and let readers decide whether they'll like it or not, for themselves.

It was fun to get a review, it was kind of bland though. Dominions I sure stired more emotions among the reviewers and resulted in funny sentences like Dominions is the most mind-blowingly complex game I have ever played in my life. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Personal information from PDF:
Huh, maybe you're right, but as a reviewer (in a "paper" strat games mag) it isn't a very feasible method...
Maybe we could leave the rating space blank at the end of the review - "Put your rating here" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Alot of Online mags do kindof that. If anyone is feeling particularly thrilled about the game they can do a search for reviews and "add user comments" to push its Ratings up abit. Here is an URL of many of them....
