Hi,

I finally got my 4 Cds of Dom 2 ... and so we (me and my friends) want to start our MP TCP games ... I have a server Linux that I want use just only as server (I can use only command lines mode) ... I want to run my Client both from my office (Linux) and home (Laptop - Windows).

Some problem:

1) I was hoping to find documentation explainig well how to do that on the manual ... but there is nothing! ... I have had some basic help from gandalf in the past, but I was looking something more ... there is a manual somewhere or I have to bother the "poor" gandalf for any problem/settings ?

2) If I install my CD both on my Linux Client (office) and Windows Client (home) bringing home the needed files (I think my_popl.2h), I'm allow to do that

3) can I use my CD (license) also for the server or I need one more (I hope no, please ... 4 CDs are enough for 4 pepole and a serve, I hope!)

4) Must the server be always running dom2 or I can just turn it on on sometimes (i was thinking to run it only in the evening, from 20 to 8 in the morning)

thank you for any kind of help ... I hope tomorrow to read here some good news ... now I go bed!

good luck
Liga

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">There is a small section about hosting in the manual; but it is far from what it should be. The Newbie Guide thread has alot of helpful information and the command line switches.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">You can play and serve on the same computer/license. For the same computer you will have to check your router/ip settings, there is an old thread with some command switches that make it much easier.

The server itself won't "use up" its cd-key. Only clients use up their keys.

I was wondering about that. So I can use my linux server for hosting games and still play from my windows machine when I only have one set of discs. Thank you.
