View Full Version : Does SC work late game v. elite troops?

Do supercombatants work in late game? Let me illustrate from my example. I had a Niefel Giant prophet decked out with artifacts everywhere. I had him cast mirror image, mistform, personal regeneration & then attack. However, he got swarmed by a bunch of ice elementals (I think that was it) & died very easily. I can understand SCs working against a small number of weak independent troops early on but would they ever work against a large number of elite troops in late game? From my own experience, I am skeptical.

Depends on many things. If the SC relies on trample to do damage, it will be in trouble against large creatures, for example.

You just have to equip him a bit differently depending on the occasion, or use another SC who might be better suited for the job. I wouldn't say there is a universal formula of spells/artifacts that will beat everything, so you have to adapt to the situation.

Did he died of fatigue, from a chancy wound? What was his prot, his def? Did he failed a MR roll?
SC works very well, but sometime you can get out of luck. A friend of mine lost his Prince of Death from a single star fire which reduced his remaining 59 HP to 0 in a single hit. Talk about bad luck. I wont even compute the probabilities of having such roll.
