Ok...I know this shows that I'm still a newb...but there's no sense in hiding it.

What does the academy of war do? Train heroes? And...is it a battle every turn or just free experience?

Click on a commander and then the site to enter. Leave him there as long as you want and he will gain experience. (no combats actually occue)

If I recall a game when I found one, it gives 8 xp a turn, which is grand!

So it effects troops too!? Sweet, I thought it was only for commanders.

IIRC Academy of War (zero-level blood site) gives 4 additional xp / season, and The Ancient Master (astral-1 site) gives 8 xp. Experience is gained by one commander and all troops under his command.
