View Full Version : map oddness....

Hi I keep trying to "create a new game" using the world map, which appears as "a map with 339 provinces" on the in game dialog.

The strange thing is, it seems to use the wrong map file, as I have ended up with valhalla as the template, urgaia prior to that. (notice the alphabetic progression)

Clearly my comp is confused. I suspect it has something to do with too many maps in the directory, but can't seem to get it to behave in any case. I've been having similar problems w/ most third party maps. (Though I am deeply grateful to all such providers!)

Why does the dialog have limited space instead of coming up in a separate/standard file window. Seems like this might be part of the problem.

Anyone have an idea on how to get the maps to work?

Thanks,

Rabe

Do you also get the "World War" scenario in your menu ? it plays using that 339 province map; if you have it you could try to see if it works; and if you don't (then you might be missing some files).

You do have the world.tga file I suppose ?

If the problem is what you think it is I'd just move all the maps you arn't interested in to another folder. [/QB]<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I tried that first. Didn't work. Just defaulted to the final map in the list. Seemed a little kludge-y to me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Eventually made a clean install to another partition, and then added just the world .maps and tga.

Now it works. Will slowly add maps, and let you know when (and if?) it breaks.

A rework of the map selection interface for dom3 might be a good idea, if anyone else can reproduce this problem...

The upcoming patch allows for more maps IIRC.
