Well I just found out about this game yesterday in a Computer Games Review... This game got a great Review... Sounds like from the Posts here that most of you feel this game is great also...

I have been playing Age of Wonders Shodow magic but it sounds like this game will blow AOW away..

Any other info you can tell me about Dominions 2 while I wait for my game to get to me would be great... I am about to start reading all the Posts here for new players...

Thanks!

Its way deep but if you take it one nation at a time you will eventually have a grasp for the whole game (like maybe a year from now) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

In Dominions, if it looks like a killer strategy then look at it again carefully.
In Dominions, if it looks like a total waste then look at it again carefully.

Think DEEP strategy game (A lot like Stars! in that way).

Pick a race and learn it before you move on.

When you think you know a race play a MP game and go back to square 1.

repeat often.

Shall we mention "come back and tell us how Ermor kicks all nations tails" followed by Ulm followed by some water nation. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Eventually learning that ALL nations kick tail when you learn them.. but wait, if I get in a multiplayer game and they all have mastered one of the races to the point that they think they can kick tail... now my head hurts.

All the races have Pros and Cons. And whats REALLY fun are the multiplayer alliances that knock out the cons!

Guess I'll never get anywhere then, since my playing style is more like "try one race, then try another, because it gets boring to use the same one over and over again!" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I have never really mastered any of the nations. Nor won any of the multiplayer games. But I sure have alot of fun.

You might want to try out the demo while you wait; it has the same interface and basics, although both the number of turns, the nations you can choose, and the magic you can research are limited. You'll also want to find Saber Cherry's "newbie" thread at among the sticky threads in this forum.
The game has a LOT of options; you'll probably find some combinations match your temperament and playing style better than others. Not all choices are equally good all the time, but most things have uses some of the time...
Oh, BTW -- the demo lets you check out descriptions for even the spells you can't research. Might want to browse them to whet your appetite. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
