What are we talking about ? The Dwarven Hammer (1-handed, 25% forging bonus) or the Hammer of the Forge Lord (2-handed, 50% forging bonus)?
However, giving it to the forging hero is a good idea anyway, and both work the same way - the commander will use less gems when forging.
If you want a boost in levels, use the global ritual spell "Forge of the Ancients" ... .

Also the gem discount is "invisible". You won't notice the reduction apart from less lost from your stockpile. This confused a lot of my friends.

Ah ok -- yes it was the dwarven hammer. OK bonus = reduction in gems, which you cant see, ok thanks! (wish there were exact descriptions on those items!)

The Forge Hammer (I think it is called?) that is supposed to give a forging bonus -- what exactly does it do? Some Man commander found one and I gave it to my forging Crone, but I didnt notice a difference in what she could make. Must I do something different?
thanks
