Lone Tien Chi scout is discovered in Jotunheim province guarded by a Jotun Herse and 10 militias. The lone scout bravely rushes forward and scratches the arm of the closest militaman with his dagger. Terrified Jotunheim defenses rout. Yet another province for a brave scout.

I wonder what is the probability of that (just regular scout with no equipment). Maybe it makes sense to attack everything in sight with hordes of cheap scouts?

Laugh!

I think it's pretty unlikely. I can't remember the Last time I saw any stealthy unit survive against the province defenses...

Most nations scouts cannot handle even the base commander of the province defenses (who routs separately from his troops, or when they have all left the battle). If you add a few troops, it becomes near impossible for a scout to win... unless you are fielding, say, a Master Druid pretender with 7 artefacts on him, or something like that...
On the other hand, for nations that have access to stealthy regular troops, putting 20 of them under 2 scouts does work to capture undefended provinces...

P.S. Just try that against my favorite Ulmian defenses (lvl 40 province defense) and see what it does to your troops http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

If you cant beat em or join em, then at least try to surprise them.

*chuckle*
On the other hand, sometimes I've messed around with very, very powerful stealthy forces -- e.g. heavily empowered and equipped Vampire Lord at head of a force of vampires. It wouldn't be too surprising if some scout for the local militia weighed his own odds of survival and decided *not* to report their presence.

The giants PD are notoriously cowardly. I had them retreat at the mere sight of an enemy scout. :/

In comparison Machakas feeble militia seems to take on any kind of odds and die miserably.
