View Full Version : Two ignorant technical questions about this forum

Sorry for this, but I dont find it in the FAQ or elsewhere:
1. How do you guys quote so that it says "originally posted by"? When I hit "quote" it just gives me the brackets bzw. end brackets with the quote.
2. I still havent been able to figure out how to configure the Posts to appear in the right row. I mean when I click on a single-page post from the main menu it shows the Last post first, which isn't a real problem I just scroll down to read the others, but when I click on a multiple-page thread I often cant figure out where it begins: clicking page 1 from 2 pages often gives me the Last page and not the first page (but not always?).
I am not particularly techinically able, so maybe someone can help?
sorry thanks

sorry thanks <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">This is what appears when you hit quote, and what gives you the "originally posted by" part. Don't know why you wouldn't get it this way, it's always there when I hit quote.

Just a clarification : this is what happens when you hit the quote icon that is over each post. If, however, you use the quote button in the Instant UBB Code section when you are already writing your post, you don't get the part with the name. On the other hand, you can then copy-paste whatever you want inside, from different Posts by different people.
Or put your own text inside ! <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana"> Originally not posted by onomastikon:
But you could do that with the quote icon anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

It is a real headache to browse the forums. I didn't pay for the hardware to run the server, the bandwith the site uses, or the UBB license. People have a right to configure what the pay for however they want to.
But its like trying to read an english book written in the Japanese format.
PS. Where is the printer friendly Version option?

Printer Friendly is at the bottom of this page on the Left Side. Took me a while to find it again, but that's because I use the classic now that I've gotten used to it, and like it quite a bit.

I asked the same question when I first came here. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any function to make this "reverse forum" display correctly. Which is really strange, since it uses UBB code, which in every UBB forum I've ever been to always lists Posts first-to-Last rather than Last-to-first. You get used to it after a while though.
