Hum, what platform ?
IIRC on Windoz the S/N is only asked on first launch after install, not after any patching ...

Taking the chance to make a fool out of myself by widely guessing:
Try not entering it via the keypad, use the "normal" numerals on your keyboard for it. Someone else had a similar issue with entering an ip-address via keypad, which worked just fine when entered via the standard keyboard.

If you use a real cd-key it will work
If you use a cracked one it will not work with the new patch. But you own the game , right? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

All good suggestions. You can also email it to the devs (info at their illwnter.com site) to see if they can get it to work.
(please dont post it here)
Which reminds me...
If the serial number was mentioned here, or found in copies on the net, then it wont work with the patch.
And a non-patched player wont be able to play with patched people.

But we do have to allow for the fact that sometimes it will catch people who are innocent. Any protection scheme will. I usually try to word things diplomatically unless they are dumb enough to actually announce that they have done something wrong. Still though, I liked your wording.

funny thread... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
the only reason AFAIK is ur serial has been found in pirate copys and Banned by 2.06' aduit program.
perhaps you were bought a "False legal copy" unintentionally.
A legal copy cost me $49. a piece "around $20", may not, but probably is an illegal one.

It appears sen1668 is the victim of piracy. His copy of the game did not come with the printed manual. It was in a CD "box" with a serial number on the box. Buyers beware...don't give your money away unless you're certain you are buying from an authorized seller. If in doubt, feel free to check with us at http://www.shrapnelgames.com/service.htm.

There are also a couple of ways I can think of that a perfectly legal user might find his serial not working but I dont want to post them publicly. But they do exist so lets not all slam every poster right away. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
