Sorry if that has been asked before (read lots of FAQs and used search but couldn't find anything *accurate* ) :
How does exactly "decay" work ? Is it anything more than a (relatively slow) damage over time spell ?

if you ever fail your MR against decay, then you will die... even if the battle end.

Pocus, what if you have regen? Do you still die?

I'm not totally sure here. I would say yes with 90% confidence.

From a post by Johan O:
The decay and poison effects have not changed from dom 1, when the battle is over the remaining poison damage is dealt to poisoned units. Non regenerating decayed units die, units that regenerate sufficent amounts survive. There is MR on decay. <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">

So to sum it up, decay is a slow but powerful damage overtime, that will kill most units (unless they have strong regenerative powers).

I think that with enough HP it's possible to survive decay even without regeneration, but I'm not sure. I remember seeing one instance of surviving decay, but I forgot whether it was a regenerating unit or not.

I don't think so. At least I had a Dragon with 152 hit points left at the end of a battle go "poof" - which is why I remembered where to find that quote from Johan...
