What is the "very" best nation in Dominions 2: the Ascension Wars?

You forgot Ulm.

He also forgot NONE OF THE ABOVE
which would be my vote

There is no best. I don't think any one nation is not within striking distance of a few other nations if played by the same caliber of player.

There are more well rounded, magically powerful, strong in short games, strong in long games, fits your playstyle, good with X variables that can adjust the course of any nation.

I'm with Gandalf. Actually, he did include "My spelling stinks", so I voted for that, since it seemed closest to "they're all good."

I took 'which is best' as being which is the most fun/interesting etc rather than which is the most powerful 8)

My vote went to the squiddies - the void gate has the same addictive power as a poker machine.

Yes, I know I forgot Ulm. Oops. Sorry. I was tired, and still am. Man I can't spell anything right.

My vote went to the squiddies - the void gate has the same addictive power as a poker machine. <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I did too, and for pretty much the same reason. Plus I enjoy seeing hordes of enemies suddenly stiffen when my massed ranks of illithids cuts loose with the mind games.

I also picked Jotuns as #2. I like seeing the giants squish puny humans. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I also took it to be the most fun one, and I choose . . . Mictlan, no surprise there. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Any "best" question is always wrong. If a person stops and thinks about it, anything they are pretty knowledgeable on, a "best" question would generate questions and not just spit out one answer right away. In this case...
best fun?
best winning against AI?
best winning against humans?
best well thought out historical theme?
best on small map?
best on large map?

Remember, the outcome of this poll does not prove any thing, it only states an opinion of those who entered. Hey, could you guys help fix my rep. and vote 5 starts for me, I feel that my 1 whole star is most embarrasing(probably spelled wrong)

Obviously UlmPunk is the best, because you can blacken the skies with arrows and not hit a [expletive deleted] thing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Mictlan is the funniest one I think, and I voted for them.

I don't know about you guys but I think ermor is the best...

.... well for starting players I guess... for one thing ermor benefits to dominion settings that other nations consider bad for a province like high turmoil or death... This provides ermor players a steady source of troops that are easy to maintain (they're dead)....

Why do so many players hate ermor opponents? Becuz they're difficult to beat! <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">

Ermor requires the least amount of skill to play. And isn't the whole point of playing a strategy game to think? (Yeah, I know, it's to have fun, but you can have that in a mindless FPS.)

Ermor isn't hard to beat, it's just hard to accept the loss of troops for gaining nothing. It's the mentality behind it.

The dying dominion themes Ermor are in actuality on the weaker end of the stick during MP. And suffer from the stigma of SP http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Broken Empire is decent, but it lacks versitility and without a cheap researcher and their upper end mage being combined to a priest you have to pay double the price to get a decent mage and decent priest they have alot to work against. Being able to cheaply raise ghouls that tear up your population doesn't quite cut it.

The best nation is ....

... the one you are currently playing...

or...

... in MP, the one that is kicking the *** of the one you are currently playing so it is so obviously unbalanced you will start playing them next game and start kicking *** too, wich surprise you somewhat because it is the exact same reason you start playing your current nation, are you starting to notice a trend or am I just wildly fond of hyper-inflated sentece that just feel like they will never finish, ever.

I also took the poll as "most fun" rather than "best".

I only have the demo right now, but of those races I'd say I've had the most fun playing Arco and Pythium. Of course, I've loved every demo game I've played thus far...even the ones where I've been trounced early. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Oh, do get the full Version. You'll love the other races, the higher level spells, and the ability to play a game BEYOND TURN $&*%! FORTY!

Although interestingly, someone playing the sold Version (I don't know about the 2.06 update) of the full game can join an internet game hosted by a demo player, and play any race they choose.

I ordered the full copy this morning, so I'm well on my way. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I have had a couple of games now (one as Arco, the other as Ulm) where the early termination of the demo game had me tearing out my hair (and I don't have much to spare)...as I was doing fairly well and gearing up to roll the war machine over my opponent. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
