Am I the only one that found it somewhat bothersome the way you add to redisgn from start you God if you just want to tweak some feature.

In fact I am used to make a backup repertoire of the newlords folder to keep track and avoid accidently erasing my designs.

The full process of creating a new god, saving it in a new game and start back from scratch with just the information you noted is a bit of an hassle....

Being able to open your existing deity and have acess to the dominion/magic/castle menu would greatly help....

Especially as reloading a game with your design wont tell you the exact scale or dominion you choosed.... as they are greatly influenced in game...

It's simpler IMHO to just rename the .2h file of the newlords folder :
ulm.2h => ulm_sage.2h
pythium.2h => pythium_oracle.2h
etc..
Whenever you want to use one of the stored designs just delete the "normal" nation.2h file, then duplicate the one you want and rename it to nation.2h et voilą !

Thats just not what he asked for. Why cant the UI be improved?

I mean, I understand loving Illwinter and all, but this is a perfectly legitimate question, deserving of a legit answer. Copying and pasting folders and files isnt the usual way a game goes about letting you make miniscule little changes.

Illwinter has very limited resources. These resources are currently largely unpaid, the resources in question are not particularily fond of programming UI interface issues, and since the resources is it's own boss and is, more or less, unpaid it is not suprising that the resources spend most of it's time improving on other stuff than the UI.

Also I just think PDF was trying to help. And he suggested an easier way to accomplish what ikerensky said he was doing further down in his post.

Didnt someone do a little c-code thing back in dom1 that printed out the stats from a god file?

You can create desktop shortcuts to make it easy. Instructions are included in the zip file.

It works like this (for example):
Nation to backup? ermor
Name to use? ermor_sage

Done!

Run the restore utility (example):
Name of file to restore? ermor_sage
Original nation name? ermor

Done!

E-mailed to Illwinter, should be appearing soon. For now you can grab it here:

Enjoy!

Targa, the filter is down. So you can stop using the memento adress. It is not mine and I do not have access to it unless Daniel comes over. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I downloaded the saver here. It will appear on IW soon.

But I am just too fond of the already made game interface http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
