Hello Demian,
The map editor does not make maps but gives attributes to a picture.
The map picture can be anything from a sattelite photo or cartographer map to a checker board or photo of your girlfriend. It must be in tga format.
When you have a nice picture you must add a single white dot everywhere you want a province to be. In the case of your girlfriend, use a paint program (photoshop/gimp/...) place a white dot in each of her eyes, lips, nose, chin, cheeks etc and save as face.tga. The picture must be in tga format!
Now start the editor and enter face.tga. Then remove and add neighbours and terrains with mouse buttons. Eyes might be farmlands, nose mountain, mouth swamp. Ask again. There are plenty of friendly folks here.

Ok, thanks alot.
By the way, this game is great. I'm a long time Warlords fan, but there was to many things left out of Warlords 4 and theres no challenge in single player games, so I had to find a new fantasy strategy game.
Warlords was allways my favorite Fantasy Strategy Game, untill now. Now I'm a big fan of Dominions.

Also, use Ctrl + right-click and Ctrl + left-click to switch active provinces and to remove "neighbor arrows".
