View Full Version : Turn2 domain randomization?

On turn 1, your inital scale settings appear to dictate your local dominion.

On turn2, sometimes, and *only* sometimes, the domain of your home province appears to revert toward the median.

I tend to only notice when productivity gets hit, but it happens fairly frequently.

Case in point:

turn1 Dom=t0p3h3g3l3m2
turn2 Dom=t0p0h3g0l3m2 (less resources avail)

The scales then evolve normally toward your initial scales as if a newly conquered prov.

Has anyone else seen this? Seems like a nasty bug, especially in MP, if not totally symmetric.

Are there random domain strength fluctuations? It might conceivably be that if there were, and your domain were temporarily reduced to zero in some internal calc, then the ... oh nevermind, I have no idea how it's happening, but I'd like to know if it's been observed by others...

I have a vague recollection of something similar. Please gather all details of the strangeness.

The growth scale can get hit too, ...

and cherry is correct that the scales return to their inital positions in the cap quite slowly.

I'll try to go determine whether everyone gets it, or just some, when it happens in MP.

Definitely *NOT* symmetric/global in MP.

Most of the turns being run in the test are essentially stale. Don't know if that affects anything.

Cannot confirm so far that it happens after turn 2. Anyone else have data?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">This has been reported in the bug thread, at least 17th January has an entry (and there it is said it has been noted previously).

I encountered it live in FrankE's newbie MP, dunno if others participating in it wish to tell if they had it. Reseted only my production, didn't do anything about turmoil or other scales (growth, heat zero; other positive).

(The scales have returned long ago, so don't anyone think that you'd have advantage over TC for that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif )

I've seen this as well, on my order scale, at least twice. I've also had other players report it in MP games I've hosted.

Hmm, this might explain the income decline in the R'lyeh AAR I am currently writing.

Without any event my income went down from 212 to 176 IIRC.

Will check my scales when I get back home this evening.

I have encountered this bug many times, and have reported it first in October. So it's nothing new.

When it happens, it's always in turn #2.

It zeroes your order, production, and growth scales if positive. Other scales are unchanged.
