View Full Version : Anyone interested in a v2.08 game?

Anyone interested in a game?
And more importantly, can anyone host a game?
My preferences would be starting with 5 provinces (usually enough to adjoin starting province), indy strength 6, site freq. 50, everything else standard. Oh, and renaming on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
edit: I'd like to play Kingdom of Karan if possible. [gorgeous map Targa]
I'm also interested in playing with victory points, but this isn't essential if nobody else is into it.
If people are interested in playing, I'll take Man.

Patrick. I'll go ahead and host your game. Though if there is a fix or change or patch in the future it may screw with everyones game. (Just a Disclaimer)
Tell me the settings you want and then we can get it started.
So far I see.
Kingdom of Karan
5 Starting Provinces
Renaming *On*
Independants 6
Magic Sites 50
Score Graphs ?
(No Utgard?)

It seems though that no-one is really interested in another MP game right now. If that is so I will lurk until another game pops up.
Of course if anyone does want to play, post here ASAP.

Two water nations might be a bit of a squeeze on Karan - there are only 20 water provinces. We could either switch maps, or one of you could switch nations, or just squeeze in as it is. What do you think?
Anyone else want to play, and if so what race?

I might be interested in playing this weekend as my schedule permits, but I've only had the game for five days, haven't played MP before, and would probably be beaten fairly early. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif But you know what they say...you don't learn if you don't play.
What were you thinking of in terms of timing? Did you want to play tonight (Friday)?
I would like to take Caelum or (2nd choice) Vanheim if possible.

I'll play any map, any nation. I am not really up for a blitz game, but could probably get in quite a few turns this weekend. Just no guarantees of one/hour or anything like that.

I wasn't supposing a blitz game (guess I should made that clear). I was thinking one turn per day M-F (effectively 6 turns per week [e.g. every midnight except saturday]).
I don't mind doing a blitz start though, to get things going, if that's what people want. If a time can be agreed upon for an hour or so we could get through the first 5+ turns and get into the real action. But I don't think it's strictly necessary.
Still interested?

Yes, what shall we do?
I say let's try Esben's server to host.
What parameters do we want: what map? indy strength? research difficulty? richness?
Esben's server does not give us the option to set the number of starting provinces, however.
Finally, what should the hosting frequency be set to, and when should we start?

Correct. I could start the game and post the isp and port here once we decide on a map, but...
Esben's site has only the maps that came on the CD, so no Karan. Of the default choices, I am partial to Aran. What do others think?
All your suggested settings are fine with me.
I am also in favor of starting tomorrow, so no one is rushed, as you say.
On a side note, I went to the Illwinter site, and saw about three different Versions of the Karan map. Which one(s) should I download for my personal use?

I would be in favour of Zen hosting instead of the other option, if we can't play on Karan or with several starting provinces with that option.
My preferences would be:
Kingdom of Karan
4 or 5 starting provinces
6 indie strength
normal richness
renaming on
If people are into that, and Zen is still willing to host then I am good to go.

w/ regard to blitz-start why don't we just start the game on quickhost and try to check in multiple times today - maybe we can get the first few turns done. If not that's ok too. From then I suggest a set hosting time - some time between midnight and 6am for every day *except* saturday night/sunday morning - that way weekend trips won't hurt too much, but the game will still move along apace.
Is this ok, or does anyone want to do it differently?

You might want to make sure everyone passwords their pretender.

I think standard hosting sometime early in the morning monday through saturday is a good idea - maybe sometime around 3 am when most everyone's asleep. I guess that would be more like 9am GMT. That would mean a minimum of 6 turns per week.
Good reminder about passwords. Everyone make passwords!
Maybe when we start the game we should make a new thread for game related stuff, so that people won't think we're still looking for players.
On that note, I think 11 is plenty for Karan (160 provinces) so let's draw the line there. Whenever you want to start it up go ahead, Zen.
