View Full Version : Question on "Solar Brilliance" ...

Howdy. I am in an MP game right as Atlantis vs. Ermor. I am not happy about the match-up. My long term strategy is to go for Solar Brilliance as my Pretender is an Astral(8) Sacred Statue. The plan is to Teleport in, cast Solar Brilliance, and then ...

Not sure. Never used SB before. Does it kill all Undead immediately? slowly? Do they get MR save? Can I cast it and then cast Returning to escape? or will it cancel the spell effects then? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Long Live Atlantis!

It works slowly, with MR and is interrupted if you leave. But it can work miracles.

Beware: all troops on the battle field might get blind. Most useful if you meet an army of several hundred undead. Soulless and skeletons vaporize rather quickly. Your caster will surely end up on the hall of fame.

Telestic animates can be rather useful vs ermor. Cheap immobile lvl 3 priests. Coral Queens with boots of quickness are also very useful.

Good point Arryn but I am pretty sure he doesn't (fingers crossed).

Another question: After casting the spell (I am running a test SP game) it seems my Pretender is losing fatigue every combat turn just for having cast the SB spell? Is this true or am I misinterpreting?

shameless bump

Primary questions are. Is he equipped with a Reinvigoration Item. Is his fatigue over 100+?

If it's over 100+ he gets 5 Fatigue + reinvigoration per round until conscious, if he is wearing or has a reinvigoration effect on, then it applies every combat round.

Yes. Thank you. But my Pretender gets herself over 100 Fatigue, is not casting spells (which makes sense) but is *losing* fatigue (which doesn't make sense) and eventually taking damage as well. And No she has no re-invig items but I definitely see the need for them.

Other sources of fatigue are heat and cold radiation when the unit isn't resistant to those elements.

No flame helmet, no items at all, just 12+ Pearls for Astral boost. The Pretender is a Sacred Statue w/ 8*Astral. No cold radiation. Just sitting there with a paralyzed Wraith Centurion Prophet at the other end of the field.

Did the Wraith Lord cast some nasty spell before becoming paralyzed - Rigor Mortis (although I'm not certain it would affect a statue) or Heat from Hell?

I think I'll assume that something like what you suggested happened. I'm going to try and re-create the situation.
