Since a game can only have a max of 17 players, and can Last for months, "regularly" hosting isnt really regular enough to wait for.
The best bet is to start a thread and gather together all the people here who are waiting for a game, figure out who has a 24 hour Online system (for tcpip) or wants to host a PBEM game (using email), and start your own.
That will take care of another 17 for a month or so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

There is a multiplayer game registry forum at the top of the Shrapnel Games forums. It has several Dom2 threads in it.

I'm a regular Space Empire MP player. Games there are typically 24 hr to 72 hrs per turn. That means if you don't get your turn in within the time limit, the computer will play it for you. *shudder*
Even if you don't use as structured a system, what are the typical turn times for Dom II?

The timeframe is based on the type of game you play.
There is anywhere from Quickhost (After everyone turns in their turn the game hosts and new turns are availiable) to standard set times (24/48/72 Hour Blocks), hosting at a specific time of the day (Noon or Midnight daily) days you skip (Like the weekend), or a combination of the above (Quickhost enabled, but every 24 Hours, a game will host).
The average game is 1/turn a day game with different options availiable on weekends (Some quickhost, some don't host at all, etc).
Some PBeM's that I've seen are twice a week games.

If I remember rightly SE IV doesn't use a hosted pbem, players pass from one to the next?
Stars! and Dominions 2 work very well on pbem because you send your turns to a host who then gens the turns. So a 4 player turn is not delayed as it gets passed from one player to the next.
Apologies if i'm wrong on the SE.

Thanks, Zen, that's what I was looking for. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Tals, SEIV has its own server which, essentially, automates PBEM games. It's slick and painless for players and even a tyro can set up and administer his own game.
