FYI, my site is now second-sourcing this map.

Torvak, I made an edit of your edit that I thought I could send you. I smoothed the features of the map, made the oceans look a little less plain and sort of erazed the evil red borders. Perhaps you could have a look and see if you can improve on it? The borders are nearly invisible on my map but I'm not sure what kind of lines I should use. Tried various shades of red but I felt it just made the map look crowded.
So where should I send it? Arryns site?

As a side not to Arryn I just noticed that Saber Cherrys "Black UnitView" map got a broken link.

I have the files myself. I can change the links on my site if need be to local hosting rather than to Cherry's site, if Cherry's will be down for a while.

Seems to be up now. I wonder what the problem was?

The combat sim d/l works intermittently via remote link.

The intermittent functionality is likely caused by the referrer bug, in all likelyhood. Many buggy browsers (cough IE cough) don't correctly send the target page as the referrer, so some websites barf.

Note to self. Don't try to get Torvaks attention by posting in this forum. I'll zip my Version and send it to Arryn for judgement. It's a bugger that I can't post a picture of in here.

O'Boy... This has not been my day. I sent one of the backups to Arryn... And before my tired brain managed to figure that out I was halfway through making a Cirlani with black seas and borders. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif
Sorry for the mix up. Lesson is: Always doublecheck everything twice.

Your Version of Torvak's map is now up on my site, ready for downloading.

There are some free temporary places you can use also

I restored the original Torvak Version of the Cirlani map to my website. I will post Wauthan's Version on my site -- in addition to Torvak's -- when I receive a replacement .tga from Wauthan for the one I accidently deleted. Players can then choose which Version they wish to play with.
I'm hoping that hosting both Versions will encourage Torvak to continue tweaking his. I don't wish to offend either one of them by being placed in the awkward position of my having to decide on only hosting one Version of the map.

Both Versions (Torvak and Wauthan) of the Cirlani map are now up on my site. The Wauthan Version .rar is much larger only because his .tga (which is actually 33% smaller than Torvak's when uncompressed) compresses down to 36% of original size (3:1) while Torvak's compresses down to just 4% of original (an amazing 25:1 ratio).

Hello there,
like to predicate this post by expressing my gratitude: looking long for a nice small map with some water, and was sad that Cirlani up till now seemed just so .... aesthetically suboptimal. You sure fixed that Torvak / Wauthan.
However....
downloaded Wauthan's Version, and didnt get far with my checking. First, it seems that the "neighbors" dont work right, dont work at all, unless my "neighbors" flags are all wrong.
Then I started with C'tis in the middle of the ocean (Province 29), which is labeled "forest". I sort of stopped checking after this because I know too little about computers to realize what could be the problem, sorry.
Havent checked Torvak's original Version yet.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for bursting any otherwise very promising looking bubbles.

Aww nuts! I remade the .map file as well with that edit. The white pixels accidently got pushed out of their place when I "swirled" the water. I'll send it over to Arryn ASAP. Thanks for the quick report Corporal Thinkthank. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Map file sent to Arryn now. Only a slight snag left. You see I was just about to turn the mapfile into a full scenario so there are more impassible borders, set province names, more "heavy site" locations and less starting places than might be expected. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif
It's perhaps more accurate to Torvaks vision this way though considering how he placed the graphics. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Fortunatly people who thinks this messes up their enjoyment of the map can easily fix these things by firing up the good old map editor and loading cirlani.
