after foregoing sleep and all contact with the outside world for the Last week (since i got the game) i am finally on my way to winning my first game. normal diff, 5 opponents, smallest map. Yes, utilizing the mighty Ulmites, and a cyclops god named hephaustus (who ironically has died 3 times, lost his only eye, has a unhealed wound, a weak chest, and a missing arm!) BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
LIFE IS SWEET!

Make that 4 times, with no eye, weakened, a chest wound, a limp, a never healing wound, and 1 arm.

after that try putting a impossible ermor ai into the next game you play http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
then you've done everything there is to do in SP.

You can design a god, start a 2-player game and then set the ermor to computer contorl on 1st turn.

Congrats on your win. Sounds like it was a good game.
Were the independents set for the default of 3?
That makes the AIs especially vulnerable. Not only do you need to beat the AIs at impossible but you need to do it with indeps higher than 5. 7 makes you pretty good. Large map like Orania, impossible AIs including Ermor and Rlyeh, Indeps at 9 makes you ready to try and win a multiplayer game.

It turned out that they were on small maps, turning the AI to impossible settings, and leaving the indeps at 3, sometimes even 2. The poor AIs were building for a long hard game while the human players rushed them.

I'm still new enough that normal AI with an indep of 6 is a reasonable fight for me, so I don't think I'm going to run out of SP fun soon.
