I presume this is covered in the manual, but I'm stuck with the demo right now...can Unholy priests preach? If so, what are the effects? And if they can't, what's the function of the Unholy stat, besides giving its owner the ability to cast spells from the Unholy list?

Unholy priests cannot preach. Unholy preists have the ability to reanimate undead.

The Thaumaturgs of Broken Empire Ermor are able to preach as well as reanimate the undead.

This may be a silly question, but if unholy priests can't preach, then how does Ermor raise its' dominion? Does it have "normal" priests? (I mean Ashen and Soul Gate) Or are the pretender and prophet and temples about it for the "standard" ways?

AE and SG Ermor do not have normal priests as national units, but it's possible to summon units, such as an Angelic Host, that retain their priest level and can preach. Also, it's possible to recruit indy priests, but they lose one rank and become unholy instead of holy. However, they retain the ability to preach.

I've recruited 2-holy standard indy priests with Ermor. It seems to be random and heavily weighted towards unholy, but it is possible to get "normal" priests through purchases.

No normal priests unless summoned or through random events.
