Ok, I'm liking pangaea new age a lot. I still think the dryad hoplites are a bit silly (you can only make them in your capital, for crying out loud!), but other than that they seem nice and solid. Your minos are the anvil, your centaurs and pans are the hammer. The scouting "problem" actually turns out to be easy; just recruit cheap independents (duh! I'm slow, but I'm learning.)
Anyways, I'm starting to come up with a new idea (damn this game!) and I thought I'd ask for help in selecting the nation. I'm looking for a nation which isn't named ermor that has a weak beginning game and strong endgame.
Any choices?

But their endgame is very powerful. Beware the power of the astral communion!

Arcosphere seems to be built around researching. They are capable enough but the best play of them seems to be slow expansion, heavy defense, lots of research, then get the major magic to kick tail in late game. Arcos has a good "score" as far as winning multiplayer games.
Jotunheim can be a late-comer thats fun to play. The giants seem cool but too many people try to play them like a bigger stronger Ulm. Their expense and heavy upkeep (both money and food) means you dont really get to field alot of armies of giants. On the other hand, they have the best province defense in the game. For only 6 points they achieve what takes about 11 for anyone else. Their late game also relies on research, and on sensible use of independent troops.

My newbie impression is that most nations with strong magic and lightish troops would fit the bill of "strong endgame / weak beginning"; I would thus like to name Tien Chi S&A as a somewhat challenging nation but one with one of the strongest endgames around. But that is only my experience so far.
Edit: Mictlan and perhaps to a different degree Machaka could fit that bill as well.
