View Full Version : Resistance items don't stack?

I recently outfitted a hero with two items that are both supposed to provide partial fire resistance. They were a Flame Blade (I think that's what it's called; it's definitely not the Flambeau or the cheapest fire blade), and a Charcoal Shield, and his fire resistance was 50%.

But testing each item separately, they both provided 50% resistance just by themselves, so having them both seemed to give no extra effect.

Is this the general case for all items that boost resistance - they don't stack with each other?

50% resistance items dont stack. Other combinations stack, like charcoal shield (50%) + fire restitance ring (100%) + barkskin amulet ( -50%) results in 125%.

More than 100% is useless unless you have build-in weakness to fire (niefel giants, liches, mummies) or risk getting hit by barkskin. I am not sure if two 100% resistance items stack.

Is it me or is something wrong with this math? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Barkskin amulet gives -25 not -50 (like barkskin, protection or mass protection spells) so your total is correct.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif You are correct, barkskin is -25%. Silly typo from me.
