Here was a fun idea I thought I would try.

I took about 6 scouts and gave them winged boots and medallions of vengeance. I thought I had read that the medallions blow up with the same power as a phoenix pyre so I figured it would be fun to drop some nukes in the middle of an enemy formation.

My scouts perform well and attack different locations as assigned - rear, archers, etc. And flying makes it instant which was nice. But when they detonate they really didn't take anyone with them. I think I was able to kill 1 medium infantry and an archer but that was about it.

I guess the medallions aren't that strong? I was hoping for something with more umph...

Caelum and Pangaea have flying sneaky cheap scounts. Perfect for that tactic and cheaper since you dont need the boots. Also note that you can have them attack rearmost. Its not such a powerful thing as to make it a GREAT tactic, but many times I sacrifice scouts to get better views of what is there before I attack so this isnt too much extra expense for some fun.

A few day ago i tried this too. Medallions with harpyies. They weren't good. Best was to kill 3 Archers. Not good enough for 1 harpyie and 1 medallions...

This actually works better for nations with tougher scouts. The explosion is somewhat spotty, and tends to work best when your scout can get himself surrounded by enemies before he is killed and explodes. The tougher scouts allow more units to take swings at it, thereby surrounding it better, before it dies and goes KABOOM!

You think the "KABOOM" amulates would be good with assassins who needs to take out powerful commanders? Or are those commanders too strong to be killed by this special "KABOOM"?

(but all in all it's a bit too expensive... in the long run at least.)
