There's a lot of grief around at the moment arising from people gazumping other people's positions in network games by uploading pretenders into non-open slots.

This could be easily remedied by demanding the password of the existing pretender before allowing an update to that pretender.

Any support for this ?

I have yet to have someone steal my spot in an MP game, but it seems like an easy mistake to make on your first MP game... you might assume that the dark black ones are all nations that are open for you to chose, not simply the nations you've previously created a pretender for...

Simply having a password check to replace the pretender would solve the accidental issue... and doesn't seem like a big hassle to the player, since it's optional... though how much of a hassle it would be to the devs is another issue entirely. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Still on the subject of handling anti-social behaviour, how about automatically shifting a nation to AI control after some number (say, 2) of consecutive stale turns ?

It isn't that hard to keep track of players and switch them to AI if their being problematic.

This situation is very common on the mosehansen server, and just one instance of it effectively disables quickhosting.

There is a way to stale a player and still not have a quickturn problem. If mosehansen wasnt to incorporate it into his web-hosting I can send him the answer.

That would be excellent! Mose isn't very active here - your best chance of making him aware of this is to post in his thread: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=74;t=001453
