View Full Version : Can you disband?

Is there anyway to just fire units that you don't like? I was playing Pangaea normal theme today, 2 turmoil, 2 luck, and 1 drain. I did most of my researching with Panii in my capital with Panii, since the drain pretty much destroys the dryads' ability to research. Pretty soon, Arcopythera joined the my nation and I had her researching in the capital too, with around 9 Panii. As you may guess, I was SWAMPED with maenads and harpies. It became so awful that I couldn't make enough food items to feed them and my units began to starve (not just the the crap units, my War Minotaurs and Cataphracts were also getting created on an empty belly http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif )
So, is there a way to disband crap units? If I were to ship them all off somewhere to get killed, I'd be putting precious Hierophants or whatevers in danger, and I don't want that since comms are expensive for Pangaea, plus, getting them all onto the front is a logistical nightmare.
If there's no way to disband, it'd be cool in a patch or something.

Good question, I really don't know, never considering firing one of my leaders or units.
But you could send them out in suicide mission if they are troubling you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

The whole idea is to use those maenads as disposable fodder. Chuck them with your main army and have several extra white centaur hierophants just for ferrying more of them to the front, you won't even need to buy any units because the mass of maenads just drowns the enemy. I'm playing with a turmoil 3 luck 3 Pangaea, and I've only bought the javelin satyrs, a few satyr hoplites and white centaurs, the maenads are my main troops, and they die like flies in any major engagement, as they are supposed to.

As far as I know, there is currently no way to get rid of units you dont like. So let them starve.

I had that same problem. I thought the notion of 'free' troops coming automatically at your turmoil would be quite good, so I created about 3-4 maenads, and the damn things came at about 20 per turn. While this was good against the first few indies, as soon as they're not dying, they cost so much upkeep and food that you can't build anything else, and in battle against serious oposition they really suck...Still, that's my fault for wanting to something for nothing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif

Take an astrally powerful commander, give him a ring of water breathing, then have him gateway the troops into an environment they can't survive. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Doesn't work for amphibious troops, but for that... well, try an undead commander holding a Rod of the Leper King to disease 'em all. Eventually they should die unless you're Pan under Gift of Health and they're lucky with the recuperation.

Is there something like a patch wishlist where we can put this?

I had about 50 tritons on the Aran map; had all the ocean provinces, so nowhere to attack. Tried moving them all into the most remote, undersupplied provinces, and still had too many supplies for them to starve (forts nearby, I think).
So - 50 or 60 tritons, totally useless, soaking up my gold income. There really needs to be a disband option, imo.
