I've got a question for anyone savvy about .map files. If I start "Game A" with a given .map file, and then later change that .map file when "Game A" is in progress, will it have any effect on "Game A?"

I ask because Philippe Duchon has kindly updated my error-ridden Cradle .map file so that it actually does what I claimed it would originally do as far as limiting starting provinces. So I'm wondering what would happen to any games I'm hosting currently on that map if I replaced the old .map file with Philippe's new one.

Anyone have a clue?

No, the .map is only used in the start up. The ftherland file remembers all neighbors sites etc.

Yeah, what Kristoffer said. I just wanted to add that I have tested this to the max. I have programs Ive written that modify or randomize things in the .map file. It didnt affect games I had already started.

But I think that the game does read your .tga file
