I love how scouts watch battles and let you see what is going on.

Anyway, there's this forest prvovince being guarded by an Earth Mother, 2 of those fertility guys (pan with the horn in his hand) and a butt load of units. about 50 vine men, 20 vine ogres, and some of those mindless humans. Looked like mostly units common to Pangea forces.

This indi province was smacking down EVERY single AI attempt. The AI even went in with a 100+ units from Ulm, and got spanked. A real treat to watch these battles.

I guess I'm wondering if it's pretty common or whatnot to see overpowered indi provinces like this?

Not common at all. What map is it?

Im guessing either its the map you are playing or a province that was taken by a random event

Desert Eye

Indie strength = 9

random events set to common

Actually the game is over for me. I was crushed by Ulm. I'm playing a new one now.

At the beginning of the game there are a number of specific independent armies that can be placed, such as the one you've seen, one led by a pair (at least) of Cyclops, one led by a paladin, and so forth. In addition to unit choices, these Groups may have predefined magic sites or equipment.

Sounds about right. I've seen some other armies, just not with multiple Pretender type chassis present. They all had equipment and gems in their inventory too!
