Does Trampling (say, from Elephants) work against Ethereals?

I'm guessing it has the same problem as normal weapon strikes (doesn't usually hit) but was curious about this so I thought I'd ask if anyone has experience with this. I'm not really interested in theories - I'm asking if anyone has actually seen this in combat and what was their experience - i.e. did the trampling have any effect against the ethereals?

It works, but very inefficiently. The pushback effects remains, but the trampling damage is negated 75% of the time.
