Did you read the top news item? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
Change the game options to have "Disallow clients to start game" turned off. Then you can start the game.

Hmm, some strange things I've noticed in pretender roster. There are 2 pretenders with exactly same name; Man and Vanheim and Man haven't ID himself. Is it possible that it's the same player?
Also, there is a "The Queen" pretender for Ulm. I sure hope it's not Vampire Queen since they are forbidden in this game.

Well I cannot know what's the Ulm pretender ... perhaps she's a Great Enchantress ... I dunno.
However I've master password to take out who isn't respecting houserule, or halt the game, I left 1 anonimous counting on MasterPass if he doesn't show up soon.
(well it is stupid too to not set your name there cause in welcome page you can see where you've turns to take... great thing that Esben ^^)

Guys, I am playing Ulm, and I can assure you that
the Queen is still alive. It is still only turn
one, you know?
As for Man/Vanheim, I am pretty sure I know what
happened. 'The *****' is what my girlfriend uses,
and Man/Vanheim is what she usually plays.
She has not played on Mose before. She must have
signed for both slots. Please wait for a few
hours before you boot her, I'll ask her which
one she wants to keep.
... *sigh* Getting her to try Dominions was not
easy. But I am really getting frustrated since
she started trying to play on-line.
Mose has done an incredible job (for free) to
ease the pain, but maybe something official should
be done? While waiting on that, would it be
possible to make it so that a played who remains
annonymous can be kicked out by anyone? I.e. if
one wants to give up the slot, change the
pretender, one could do it?

Is the reasearch at normal settings now? I think it was set to very difficult in the first game.
Either one is fine with me.
I'm heading out of town for about 30 hours. So if possible wait 6 or 7 hours before starting the game, or start it within the next few minutes so I can play my turn before I leave.

I would like it if we could wait a little longer so someone else could join. 12 ppl so far, 11 if you don't count Man who didn't sign up and is probably going to be kicked.

Well ... the "Start Game" button is disappeared ... I've asked Mose how to start the game ... in fact I cannot start it!

Maybe it would be better to restart the game so we can all pick our slots again. She can chose to be either Man or Vanheim (I figured it could be such a mistake, that's why I pointed it out).
Didn't mean to accuse you for using forbidden pretender, its just that user for Ulm is Peter and I don't recall any Peter on forums so I thought he could have joined the game without noticing the rule and selecting BF and VQ. Glad to be wrong about that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
I have also forgotten to put a password on my pretender so it would be nice if I could upload it again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif
Btw. this is one reason why we should be able to overwrite our own pretenders (as mentioned in a discussion on Mosehansen thread).

1. Master password will not work before the next patch. It should really be removed from the game creating screen, but I'm too lazy.
2. Anonymous players can and should be kicked before game start. The one to do this is the game creator, and the time is when he removes the "Disallow clients to start the game" checkbox. It cannot be everybody because kicking means restarting the program on my server, and I don't want this to run rampant.
3. While I'm usually opposed to restarting games for any reason, I'm ennough of a romantic to agree the reasons below http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif However, if it's just a matter of choosing between two nations, the other could just be set as a computer player.
4. You cannot kick anyone by any means except by knowing their real password. The kicking feature on the server only works as long as the game has not started. If you want to know why, ask Illwinter, though I can guess, and so can you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Lots of sunshine to everyone and so forth...

Since Man was staling I turned it AI.
I assumed that if someone had to choose beetween Man and Vanheim, and seen that Van has took his turn and Man not, I passed to action.

If I'm not mistaken, game rules were to use only 10 Magic point or immobile pretenders, right?

Is someone breaking those rules?

Well, Arco has Sure Sut the Wyrm so I would say yes.

Just bumping this to make sure everyone involved saw it. Arco is using illegal pretender - the choices are (switching to old DOS option mode)
r) retry (restart game if you want but this time with legal pretenders)
i) ignore (keep playing)
a) abort (stop the game)
You guys make call. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I certainly don't want to abort the game. We have all invested quite a bit of time in it already.
Why don't we see if Esben would be willing to simply park the Wyrm in his capital.
Or perhaps pay some sort of reperation to everyone?
Another option would be to set him to AI. Although that doesn't sound very fun, and wouldn't necassarly be fair to his neighbors (of which I am one).
I'm playing Caelium just to be clear.

I do not want to restart or abort. I am sure
that it is a honest mistake, and that he will be
willing to just park it in the home castle.

I think Esben will be fixing this game (and others) tommorow sometime. We should set the host time to something really large to give everyone enough time to get patched up and ready to play.
Also I have my turn submitted, but I didn't do anything. I was planning to log in again an hour later to actually take my turn, but game had crashed by then. I just want to make sure I can take my turn before we host it.

Let's not restart the game. The Wyrm should just be restricted to capital only.

Or simply we all ally against Arco since Master Password don't work.

Argh. I'm the culprit.
I read the "10-points pr. path-pretender" as "every magic path you take most be taken to 10 points". As I understand, you meant the pretenders whose initial new magic path cost was 10 points. I'm so sorry :-(
I think my nation will commit ritual suicide as amends. I will loan a sea province to the north for this purpose. It will take a couple of turns to set this up; I need to forge some magic items to go into the sea.
Again, I'm sorry :-(
Cohen
June 8th, 2004, 08:49 AM
Well, otherwise you can keep your wyrm in the capitol researching and forging only, but I suppose this is very bad for you ... but you can keep playing at least.
If you withdraw in only 1 province, you could leave a big hole in the map...

Oh, all right then, I'll stay in the game. The thing was bloody useless anyway. It fought well, but was always left behind and used the entire battle shuffling back and forth anyway. It looked cool, though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Why don't you look for a sub so on?
If not, I'd be glad to take the gems and money, and to get attacked http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

If my Wyrm count as a stationary pretender, can I teleport it around?
Cohen
June 9th, 2004, 01:16 AM
Well the problem is that the Wyrm has stats far more better than an Oracle or a Fountain of Blood ...
I'd say to vote for this.
Other players can say NO or YES, or propose something.
I'd propose you can teleport only for defence purpose in your owned province.
So you can use your Wyrm who's better superior stat that our pretenders, but you cannot exploit this attacking us.

I suppose it doesn't matter. I forgot it doesn't have any magic, so it can't very well teleport. And for the gems it would cost to empower the darn thing, I could easily get a better SuperCombatant. It really isn't that good, it has been beaten by independents several times in this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I find this quite ironic. I usually only use stationary pretenders, because I hate getting my pretender killed. (I sometimes use the Phoenix, because while it sucks, it is darn STYLISH, and immortal.) In fact, this is the ONLY MP game where I have a non-stationary pretender.
