I tried it ... it should burn undead to cinder ...

In 4 or 5 rounds no undead was killed ... what's happening?

UP.

It was the spell, not the Forbidden Light (that however should cast the spell).

There were about 200 250 SG undead troops (spectral legionaries, velites, shadows and so on).

In 4 or 5 battle rounds, none of them were killed.

It's a bug, or it's a very useless spell?

I've never tried it. If it's resisted my MR, though, that might account for it not killing SG troops, which have fairly good MR.

Or maybe it doesn't work against ethereal units?

I don't know; just guessing.

When I did use it, I was under the same impression as you - it didn't seem to do anything. But when I looked at the battle summary, it reported that 1-2 hundred undead had been killed.

I dunno, but something wasn't right. And it may still not be right.

If the killing is occurring in randomly selected undeads, and the enemy army is huge, he's going to lose them diffusely, so the overall size of the army doesn't appear to be going down rapidly since it's picking them off at random....which is hard to sea in a roiling sea of undead.

That's what I put it down to at the time.

The spell deals a small amount of damage to a fraction of the troops each turn. In 4-5 turns you probably didn't give it enought time to kill anybody.
