I've never tried that, so I ask.
I know it should give you some random provinces (how many? which range?)
Are they near your territory or are far away too and are totally undefendable.
If there's a castle and a temple, are they converted, destroyed or what?
Anything else to say ^^ ?

I tried it once, netted four provinces on a large map. You keep forts and labs, temples are destroyed.

Netted is the short for "connected" to your land?
It would be nice you could address the nation victim of the stoling, at the wish ...
Is it a wish or not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
I'd like to open a discussion about balancing wish effects ...

I think by "netted" he literally means "got". "To net" is either a net-fishing metaphor, or a way of saying "gained" (net gains as opposed to gross gains, hence "to net" means to gain a certain amount, taking losses into account).
What happens to the foreign units that were in those provinces?

No, only one was bordering my own lands, the rest were scattered around the map.
EDIT: I have no idea what happens to units already in the province, but I didn't get any.

Well it could be pretty worthless if provinces come scattered away and in the core of the enemy territory ...
True they can come provided of lab where gateway, or however you can trapeze/teleport an SC and similar stuff.
The random effect could upset many players at the same turn ... cause you steal the provinces.
It could be nice if it kills the units inside the province.
As a lucky shot you take the capitol of someone else ^^ well perhaps it's *protected* by code.
