View Full Version : Unequipable Armor?

I'm curious if there's a reason why mounted units can't equip items of armor? I can kind of understand them not getting the Stymphalian Wings - don't want that size 5 beast the Freaklord is setting on flying that easily. But not letting them equip Monolith / Aseftik's armor either?

I agree with Caine ... especially because the heavies armours were forged for knights ... not footmen.

To give a little more information - this is on the Allfather, and Vanheim's other Van leaders. I can, as stated, sort of understand the Wings - better if it was equipable but didn't give flight, but understandable.

But being unable to equip the heavy artifact armors. As I stated in the original post - non-mounted commanders can equip them. But not the mounted leaders.

that's strange, and I've never noticed not being able to equip something I have the slot for. However, I can help you out by providing a nice purchase price for the monolith...

(if this is for Crowded_Lands)

Perhaps because the encumbrance would be ignored by mounted commanders.

This must have been changed with the recent patch because I know I have equipped the monolith armor on knights before.

Spell casting on the other paw gets kinda hard - which means you aren't going to have your commanders doing 5 buff spells while wearing Monolith without taking a nap.

Seems like a bug maybe?

Bug or by Design... only the Devs know.

I seem to recall that the descriptions for the Monolith Armor and the Stymphalian Wings both refer to the weight of the armor and the armor itself magically boosting the wearer's strength so that he can actually use it. It didn't say anything about helping out the poor mount, however...

With the wings the knight would have to lift the mount with his leggs.

However I thought I was able to do so, but the only time I tried was in the original Dominions, not Doms 2.

Something like 4 horse's legs spreaded in all directions, from under the huge monolith-type object... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I've never been able to equip Monolith armor on horsemen, in Dom-PPP. Haven't tried in Dom2. I remember equipping Aseftik's Armor on a mounted hero (again in Dom-PPP), but I suppose there is some way for the devs to program items so that they are not equippable for certain types of units.
