on which server the games should run?

There should be an independent server (mosehansen?) for the duels. The 'serverplayer' could do some cheat technics useing the ftherlnd-file (like reveal magic sites, try the independent forces, etc.).

I think most of us have enough honor not to do that but the tourney is official and there are some prizes...

How's the challenge format? Something like: [i]Battlefield says: "You are player 1 and have to pick Atlantis against player 2 who is (insert other random name here) and plays Arcoscephale."?

Or do we bid on nations? Do we know opponent's nations before creating the pretender? "as defined" means standard settings (indep 3, standard richness, standard research, common events, graphs on, renaming disallowed)?

I think that's all I can think off I need to know. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

As for "standard" settings, I've found that the usual MP-accepted settings are Indy-6, sites-50, HOF 15, standard richness and research, no graphs, renaming enabled (does anyone actually have a real reason to disable it? Why is this not just default by now?)

I am afraid for this week, I am too busy to play any games faster than 40 hours a turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif There's a new job, a couple of tests and a rather big party to plan.

If this means I'll miss the entire tourney, best of luck to my replacement player! I'd like to join for the second tourney, then, as long as that doesn't conflict with the one holiday I'll do this year...

So are we supposed to be playing the scenario Version of the map, or just the standard Urgaia map? The scenario Version only supports the playing of the aforementioned 3 races by the human players. The standard Urgaia map supports any 3 players. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to use commander renaming on scenarios. This is bad.

This time schedule is horrible! Mabye it was ok for 2 players but how should we arrange a game with 3 players randomly chosen from around the world which have timezones from gmt-7 till gmt+2 (in our case) AND end this game in 6 days?

When we have less time for this tournament we can play 1vs1 games (with the best match of timezones). They are about 3 times faster and easier to arange!

Round2: 2004-6-20 8 pm GMT 1 - 2004-7-11 8 pm GMT 1

Great, my opponents are all dropping off the face of the universe before the game even starts! At this rate, all I have to do it sit around until we run out of players and I win by default. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Man-whose-name-I-cannot-recall has apparently been replaced by man-whose-name-has-no-vowels, somebody who hasn't been seen in, well, ages. Are you sure he's still alive or was even applying to play? I could only find one post by him, and it fell short of an affirmation.

Mmmm I believe the biggest problem is to arrange the game ...

calmon
June 8th, 2004, 02:58 PM
Round1 'CALMON' vs 'MANTIS2K' vs 'LEPAKKO'

Ok here is our problem:

Me (calmon) and lepakko are GMT+2. Mantis2k (sub for graeme) is GMT-7!

My time for playing is in the evening. Lets say from 4-11 gmt. I don't have much time at the weekends.

Lepakkos time is similiar. But he is in a camp from 13.6.-19.6. so he can't play in the second week.

Mantis2k (GMT-7) has only 1 hour in the night and half a hour in the morning to play which means early in the morning and noon here in gmt+2 timezone in which i sleep or have to work. He has more time at the weekends.

How we can play this game with more then 1-2 turns a day? I can't see a timezone in which all of us are Online to play more then this amount of turns. Our game would be on turn 10-15 at the end of the tournament but not finished.

Why we don't play duels? 1vs1 is a world better to arrange then a 3 player game.

Out of curiosity, how do you determine who gets third place in this setup? The way I see it, you have a winner, a runner-up, and then two people who were equally defeated in round 2. How do you determine which of them gets third? Another match between the two losers of the second round for the bronze?
