When I cast Imprint Sould underwater, I get about 40 magic beings (Mad Ones?), but NO commander able to command magical beings. So they just go poof! I can't belive this is by design.
Has anyone else seen this? Is this a known bug?

Maybe the mad priest drowns, and can't command the mad deep ones. There should probably be a mad priest Version of a deep one.

But for sure they didn't go "poof", and I was able to move them all into another province afterwards.

There was definitely a commander, but it had no Magic Command rating, so could only command the ~10 non-magic units.
Drowning seems unlikely, as the units are all Versions of Rlyeh units (e.g., the Magic units I'm talking about are modified Lobo Guards).

Holy Deep One, leadership 25/0/0, that's the problem. When they fix the unit, it will fix the spell.

Yep. A very simple mod will fix it, too. I expect that the commander just needs some undead leadership - not necessarily enough for the whole mob.
For example, some random events give forces led by a commander who doesn't have enough leadership to control the units who nonetheless start out under his command and work fine unless they get un-assigned to his command. Which is actually an interesting and not inappropriate limitation - they are under him do to an unusual event, and not only because of his innate leadership. And, he can't have an army of unrelated troops put under his command.

The Holy Deep One needs magic ldr, not undead, as the Mad Deep Ones are magic beings.
