That always seemed wrong to me also. I eventually chalked it up to language differences.

If you manually adjust your bid down to 75 then you will still retain control of the mercenaries unless someone else outbids you. They would have to bid more than twice your bid to do this.
The game simply fails to adjust the default value to account for the doubling effect.

Yeah I figured this out from what actually happens. It would be clearer to say you only pay half what you bid then use the bid thing as is.

ok, so, i have some mercs in my army. I have 1 more turn till they leave my forces. It says that they are asking for 75 gold. But, since i already have them employed, then my amount offered will be counted as doubled, right?
So, when click to rehire, instead of 75 gold, it says 150 gold. I understand that it is counted as double, but it takes the 150 gold from my treasury.
Does the amount count as doubled, or, is the amount doubled?

This way your fingers might not hurt too much from clicking bid values down.
Illwinter need to make a serious interface makeover. I am already addicted to this wonderful game, but I have mixed feelings for the interface. :-)

It is stated in the manual and in the game tips.
